Join us for our first ever day camp this summer at the Bear Creek Wilderness.  Up to eight youth, grades 3-5, will spend a week immersed in nature learning the fundamentals of field science, developing wilderness skills, creating with natural materials, exploring our meadows, streams, and forests, and, of course, playing.

With access to several streams, a small pond, and a range of scientific equipment, students will have the opportunity to learn about water quality and aquatic life. And with access to Douglas-fir and Ponderosa pine forest ecosystems as well as wet and dry meadows,  students will learn about the long-term data collection projects happening in our research forest.

The group will be invited to choose from a menu of wilderness skills such as: navigation, knots, shelter building, knife skills, etc– and we will focus on one or two throughout the week.

Additionally we will make time for nature crafts, such as natural pottery, weaving with plant fibers, building with wood, and creating fairy houses and art installations- letting the kids follow their inspiration.

The camp mentors will be Jess Lambright and Dan Hagen, with two teen counselors on-site each day.  Transportation will be provided from Washington Park in Eugene.

The Bear Creek Wilderness is an undeveloped site without running water or electricity.  Students will need to bring their own lunches, snacks and water bottles, as well as anything else they might need for the day.

Registration opens April 5th!
